I had started this poll earlier and deleted it when I tried to make it an announcement (along with Roxanne's response!! ). I'm still learning this stuff... Sorry Roxanne! Let me know whether you think this forum works well for what we want, or if you would prefer to: a) return to Taunton's forums now that they have had time to work out the quirks, or b)move to the Breaktime format which is familiar to you from before. The advantage of staying here is that the boards are easily maintained with moderation tools that allow me to control things like spam, user settings, etc. The advantage of the Taunton forum is that paid people will control the boards so I don't have to worry about it. The advantage of the Breaktime forum is that the community is easier to interact with - one password will get you into their forum as well as ours, and the interface is familiar. Also you can put up larger attachments there (I think). Vote above. Your board, your call.

I vote to go to the new Breaktime format (not at Taunton, but at Delphi). After talking with Dagwood, who showed me how easy it was, I set up a cooking forum using the same format we were all used to at CooksTalk. If anyone would like to check it out, please do so, and let me know what you think: forums.delphiforums.com/cooks1/Thanks!

I hate to vote, since this has the advantage of no intrusive ads (that an upgrade can fix, but costs $$$). But the other format is what we all liked. So where the flock goes, so shall I.

I really think that is the best message board format I've ever encountered. Of course it, being "human", has a few quirks, I'm sure, but damn, it is good!

I'm enjoying playing there since it's so easy, but I still want as many people to be happy as possible.

Based on Concensus so far, it looks like the vote is to move to the same platform as the cooks and Breaktimers.
Not much point in holding out.
Tomorrow morning I'll open the front gate, unless somethgin wild happens between now and then.
I will leave this place open until folks are nicely seated on the comfy couch over at the other site, then I'll do the same thing with our posts here as I did with the cooks. Post an announcement, and lock up the threads. Likely I'll lock this place up towards the end of the day.
I would encourage you to look into posting the new address in the Taunton forums once we get moved. Not much has been posted in there lately, although I have noticed that folks are peeking in to see what changes are taking place. Its probably a good thing to keep peeking in. Maybe you can report back when you see progress, but please lets leave off bashing Taunton. It is their site to do with as they please.
If anyone has concerns with our move, please let me know!

It needs to be said. Your handling of this whole thing is above and beyond and you've done it with grace and style. Thank you! I just exalted you thrice. That is to say I will exalt you thrice; I just discovered we're not allowed to exalt anyone more than once an hour.

Thanks Marty, Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
If I was able I would promote you to elementary school, and possibly even beyond that!
Alas, I cannot.

Dougwood has done a masterful job here. Now if we do go and join the stud nailers will Doug still have to manage the new site? Dog, which site would you rather work with if you have to remain as manager? I think that your vote is more equal than the rest of the votes. Tell us what you think. BJ

Beej,
I try really hard both in work and play to be less equal than the folks who are teaching me stuff. The new site is already built, hope you'll pull up a chair when we open the front door tomorrow.
We won't be joining the woodbangers so much as being neighbours. We'll have some noisy reno guys on one side and a bunch of cooks throwing dishwater out the windows on the other. Trust me, its a great neighbourhood!

I've gotta get home now. My woodshed is waiting and its pitch black out.
I hope no one finds the new forum before the official invite tomorrow, I don't think its hidden from the Prospero search engine anymore.

For those of us (like me) who are a little closer to Luddite than we care to admit, how exactly do we find where we are going tomorrow?

I'm sure Gort will post a link in the invite in the morning. If he doesn't, I will. It feels so good to wade around in familiar waters. Just have to ignore those ad sharks.
